"The emblematic expression of Alexandre Bonnet's fine, fruity terroir".

"Small oxidative notes evoke almond, undergrowth after rain in an elegant nose. This evolves into a beautifully textured palate, underlined by a toasty frame and accompanied by notes of gingerbread and rapadura. Noble bitters guide through to a lively finish. A champagne of moving balance, without any heaviness". (Gault & Millau 2024).

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 90/100

3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Freshness, liveliness, good volume in a vinous ensemble for a resolutely table champagne.

About the domain :

This Riceys winery has completely overhauled its operation, proposing an estate-style image, with numerous parcel-based cuvées inspired by a Burgundian model. It specializes in black grapes (although it does make a respectable cuvée of pinot blanc and chardonnay, harmonie-de-blancs), and in particular a delicious rosé de saignée, i.e., made from an early stage of vinification in red and not, as is more often the case in Champagne, from a blend of red and white. Champagnes have progressively gained in depth of taste and finesse of texture.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (guide 2024) 96/100

Area rated Recommended (Recommended)

About the wine:

Slight oxidative notes evoke almond, undergrowth after rain in an elegant nose. This evolution is echoed in the beautifully textured palate, underlined by a toasty structure and accompanied by notes of gingerbread and rapadura. Noble bitters guide through to a lively finish. A champagne of moving balance, without any heaviness.

About the domain :

The village lies at the end of the Laignes valley, on the borders of Champagne and Burgundy. It's a land of hillsides that, for centuries, men have patiently shaped for the vine. Its history and name are plural, and its reputation singular: Les Riceys. On the steepest slopes in Champagne, the Kimmeridgian limestone gives Les Riceys pinot noirs the unique expression that has made the reputation of its three appellations: champagne, coteaux-champenois and rosé-des-riceys. The Alexandre Bonnet estate produces some of the most sought-after wines on the Côte des Bar.

Rated wine (guide 2024 ) 91/100

About the wine:

With three years of bottle age before yeasting, this champagne has an aroma of white flowers and intense acidity. The wine is textured with minerality and a spicy, white-fruit flavor.

About the wine:

Delicate aromas of dried prairie flowers and warm, sweet hay. The chalky texture gives the wine a firm, fine concentration. Loose, lacy bubbles. These lovely aromas are very persistent on the palate, adding graceful lift and a savory veil to the ripe yellow fruit.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (guide 2024) 92/100

About the wine:

A textured, balanced and energetic Pinot Noir champagne. Well-conducted and concentrated with precision and style. Aromas of cooked pears, sweet spices and raw almonds. Tasty, with fine bubbles and a vertical dimension. Vibrant and agile. Disgorged in 2023.
