Champagne Louis Roederer
In 1833, Louis Roederer inherits the Champagne House. A winegrower first and foremost, he decided to expand the family vineyard by meticulously buying up plots of land in the Grands Crus. Almost 100 hectares by 1850.
His successor, Louis Roederer II, continued this work and further enriched the family heritage. From 1870 onwards, Louis Roederer Champagnes were exported, notably to Russia for Tsar Alexander II, for whom he created the famous Cuvée Cristal in 1876.

It wasn't until the 1920s, when Léon Orly Roederer took over the company, that the desire to create a regular, non-vintage cuvée appeared, with the first sketches of Brut Premier.

Today, Maison Louis Roederer remains a family business, run by Frédéric Rouzaud, a descendant of Louis Roederer. It owns 240 hectares of vines, or 420 parcels, located exclusively in the premier and grand crus of the Marne.

"A perfect embodiment of balance for this highly elegant champagne".

"A lovely Collection 244. The 2019 base brings a maturity and amplitude that commands respect. Too few great houses can boast to produce such a full, deep signature cuvée." (Le Guide RVF 2025)

"Exceptional champagne!

"For a hot, dry vintage, this wine is extraordinarily fresh and elegant. The complex nose of citrus blossom, mint, lemon zest and lime opens up slowly as it airs in the glass. The wine's ample structure is still quite firm, which is a characteristic of the vintage, and the mousse is very fine but also very lively for an eight-year-old champagne. Cristal lovers will love it as it is, but a year or two more in bottle will go a long way towards the very long mineral finish of this youthful masterpiece." (Wine Advocate 2023)

"New style!"

The "Brut Premier" cuvée is reinvented, more complex and precise. Collection 242 represents the House's 242nd blend since its creation. Based on the 2017 vintage (56%), this cuvée is completed with 34% reserve wine from the Réserve Perpétuelle started in 2012 and 10% aged in wood. This turning point marks a new chapter in the history of the great Champagne House, in search of freedom and a more contemporary style!

"Purity and finesse

"Very delicate style overall, with softness and elegance. Yellow citrus and yuzu character. Very chalky on the palate, with a silky texture and a very pure fruit core. The full vinous potential of Chardonnay is striking here. Really ripe in a cool year means concentration. Very silky" (James Suckling)

"The 2014 vintage was characterized by a dull, cool summer, fortunately followed by a dry, radiant September. The result is this beautifully crafted rosé, a skilful blend of macerated Pinot Noir (63%) and Chardonnay fermented together, with partial malolactic fermentation and light wood addition. The champagne remains on its lees for 4 years. The result? A very pale, powdery pink color with white-gold highlights, criss-crossed by an active bubble, a nose of ripe fruit, nuanced with pastry notes and hints of cognac and cask, the prelude to a full, rich, taut palate with good length". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

"It has a very fresh, pure and full lemony nose on the palate. Then it refreshes, settles and reveals itself to be fine, on flinty notes, chiseled with dry acidity through to the finish. Super refreshing and saline. Made from biodynamically grown grapes - 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier. Drink or cellar." (James Suckling)

"The palate here is very expressive and voluminous. Lots of Pinot Noir, sliced strawberry flavor. Very rich and round and very assertive, it's already so long and full. Plenty of pink fruit and berries and a sizzling, mineral finish. New version here. Impressive! Drink now or wait. (James Suckling)

"One of the best in its class".

"Made from equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (40%), with a small amount of Meunier vinified in foudre, the house's signature cuvée is aged for three years in our cellars. A luminous golden color animated by fine bubbles; an intense, complex and delicate nose of white flowers and ripe exotic fruit, invigorated by a hint of menthol; the prelude to a fleshy palate, both rich and fresh, where exotic fruit is combined with lemony notes. A real delicacy ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)
