Champagne Taittinger
The Taittinger house is one of the most renowned houses in Champagne.
The Taittinger Champagne house vineyard covers 288 hectares of vines, part of which are cultivated using mass selection and sustainable farming methods. This choice allows the wines to develop a unique complexity and personality. The champagnes are produced in the purest Champagne tradition, with careful vinification and meticulous blending, followed by precise and attentive work in the estate's Gallo-Roman chalk cellars. Champagne Taittinger wines have always included a high proportion of Chardonnay, the house's signature grape, and deliver a unique character and personality that place them among the elite of today's Champagne producers.
Pierre Taittinger, the initiator.
Pierre Taittinger developed a passion for Champagne when he discovered this wine-growing region as a young liaison officer during World War I. A few years later, this lover of fine food and wine returned to the region and settled there to create and develop the Taittinger House. He worked hard, and his first reward came in the early 1930s when his excellent Chardonnay grape variety was able to convey in bottles of Champagne the very essence of what is expected of this wine: finesse, lightness, and unforgettable grace. Today, his descendants, particularly Vitalie Taittinger, continue his work and his conquests of tables in every country. Magnificent wines cannot be created without giving nature time to mature and flourish. For the Champagnes of the House of Taittinger, it is in the heart of Gallo-Roman chalk cellars that the transformation into Champagne takes place, in preserved cellars that give the bottles the time and years they need. Between three and five years for the Bruts, but you will need to be patient and wait up to ten years for the vintage wines. In short, it is not a science of waiting but an art. Added to this is the preservation of this vineyard with its exceptional genetics, which is the requirement of the wine experts who work on the estate. While Chardonnay plays an essential role, they do not forget Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in the composition of all the cuvées.
