Viña Punto Alto is owned by the Laroche family, who have been producing and making Chablis wines since 1850. Michel Laroche, who represents the 5th generation, joined the family estate in 1967 to carry on the tradition and continue the work begun. In 2001, the enterprising spirit of Michel Laroche and his colleagues took them beyond the borders of France to take up the challenge of theNew World. Fascinated by the potential of the unique climatic conditions, the wide variety of grape varieties and the ancestral culture of wine, he decided to create a vineyard in Chile: Viña Punto Alto. In 2005, he bought 53 hectares of slopes ideally located in the Casablanca valley, west of Santiago, towards Valparaiso, at the foot of the El Mahuco mountain that separates the Casablanca and Maipo valleys. In 2006, Michel Laroche acquired a 23-hectare estate planted with Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, with a perfectly functional winery immediately adjacent to the highway linking Santiago to Valparaiso.
