Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About wine:
Light color, lovely nose of red fruits reminiscent of Pinot Noir, nice grape, still a little fermented, very refined, more fruity than mineral, however.
About the estate:
In this historic wine-growing region of Ajaccio, whose unique collection of old local white grape varieties has raised awareness of the moral and cultural obligation to diversify the grape varieties grown throughout Corsica, Jean-Charles Abbatucci practices impeccable viticulture with contagious generosity. The recent wines have the suppleness, naturalness, and smoothness one would expect of them, and have made significant progress in terms of consistency thanks to the collaboration between the owner and a remarkable consultant oenologist, Emmanuel Gagnepain. The Faustine cuvée shines with its pure finesse, while the great collection cuvées, Ministre, Général and Diplomate, offer the refined complexity of their pioneering grape varieties. New cuvées, Monte-Bianco, Alte-Rosso and Valle-di-Nero, are beginning to be produced, but the estate has not sent them for tasting. That will be for next year.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About wine:
Like the white variety, Faustine red lacks a little body: although its fruit is delicious and delicate, the overall impression is somewhat light and simple.
About the estate:
The history of this estate began in the 20th century with a visionary, Antoine Abbatucci, the founder of this wine nursery, a veritable conservatory of native Corsican grape varieties. Jean-Charles Abbatucci, Antoine's son, took the estate to a higher level (massal selections, demanding biodynamics, rootstocks adapted to the soil and climate, etc.). The entry-level wines are remarkable; in the magnificent blends, each grape variety contributes its own aromas, freshness, substance, or consistency. The wines are easy to drink and refined, thanks to the refusal to intervene excessively, and the aging process has been refined through the use of large oak casks and concrete eggs.

Striking, very lively nose with hints of morello cherry. A truly wild wine, reminiscent of certain modern Fixin or Marsannay reds. Tense on the palate, with lovely acidity and normal length. Perfect for fine grilled meats: a beautiful rib of beef or wild boar cooked with southern or Corsican spices (and, conversely, not at all suitable for stews and dishes cooked in sauce). There is nobility in this well-made, juicy and appetizing product! Worth remembering, but the price is not insignificant. Perfect as it is, enjoy it before the sun leaves us.

This red wine is unworthy of Corsica! It is too light, lacks depth on the palate, and has an unpleasant bitterness! I do not recommend it at all!
