"The cooked, earthy black fruit aromas are smoky and full of energy. This wine is full but balanced, with freshness and powerful tannins. Ripe berry, prune and wood spice flavors finish with vanilla and length. For a Crianza from a complicated vintage, this is commendable." (Wine Enthusiast 2016)

"Deep ruby. Intense aromas of ripe black berries, vanilla and mocha. Supple, full and soft, with intense blackberry scents and vanilla notes again. Juicy acidity lends uprightness and spice to the long, soft, delicately tannic finish, with a charming, lingering floral touch." (Vinous - Antonio Galloni)

"The 2009 Reserva is composed of an identical blend to the Palacio del Burgo 2009 Reserva: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Grenache and 5% Carignan. It develops great complexity and virtually the same character as the Palacio del Burgo 2009 Reserva: vanilla, new leather and black cherry, in a medium-bodied, elegant, complex and concentrated style. Drink it over the next two to three years. (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

On the nose, this Licenciado Reserva develops beautiful notes of wild fruit, vanilla and spices. On the palate, it is well-balanced, round and elegant, and a perfect example of a classic Rioja, perfectly mastered. Not to be missed!

Rating: Robert Parker 90/100
"This exceptional 2008 Reserva presents an anthology of vanilla, spice, underbrush, blackcurrant and black cherry jam, cedar wood and Christmas fruitcake notes. Its complex aromatic palette is followed by opulent structure, a full-bodied, well-made Rioja to drink over the next 3-5 years (through 2018)." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker). Excellent value for money for a Reserva!
