Bodegas Dios Ares a été créé en 2001 par Carlos San Pedro, par ailleurs propriétaire et directeur technique de Bodegas Pujanza, en association avec d'autres personnalités du monde du vin, et a produit son premier millésime en 2004.
Les vignobles de Bodegas Dios Ares, qui comptent quelques 100 hectares, sont situés à Laguardia (Rioja Alavesa) produisant une excellente sélection de raisins. Le terroir est composé de sols argilo-calcaire, à une altitude moyenne de 400 à 650 mètres. Tout au long du processus de culture, les vignobles de Bodegas Dios Ares sont contrôlés, de la taille jusqu'aux dernières semaines avant les vendanges, afin d'obtenir une parfaite maturité des raisins.

Il s'agit toujours du Tempranillo de la Sonsierra, élevé en barriques françaises pendant 12 mois, mais dans un style complètement différent - ici, le fruit joue le rôle principal. C'est un style de Crianza très facile à boire, avec le boisé en arrière-plan (ou même plus loin...) avec un fruit net et un palais vibrant avec une grande fraîcheur.
