"A baffling Burgundian style!

"A traditional beauty that expresses iron, warm earth and savory tobacco leaves, as well as plums, spices and orange zest. It's juicy and still tight, with firm but savory tannins. It's medium-bodied and quite lively in texture, as are the other López de Heredia reds tasted in this session. Drink now or cellar. (James Suckling 2022).

Expert opinion

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Rated (guide 2022) 94/100 (Wonderful wine)

Domain rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The Viña Tondonia Reserva 2011 is darker, with riper fruit, a rounder mouthfeel and powdery tannins. A year of ripeness, concentration and tannins, the wine is powerful with the finesse of the Tondonia. Tasting this wine alongside the 2010 Tondonia revealed that the latter is more powerful and full-bodied, while the 2010 is the epitome of finesse and elegance. It was bottled in May 2019.
