"Delicious aromas of subtly earthy berries, oranges, iron, and notes of nuts, tobacco, and mushrooms. On the palate, the tannins are fine, the acidity high, the berries juicy and flavorful, and the finish long and lemony. A hint of tertiary caramel on the finish makes this wine very complex and complete. Drink now or within the next 10 to 15 years." (James Suckling - 2023)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100
About wine:
This mature vintage from one of Rioja's finest producers is a real gem. Made primarily from Tempranillo, with 15% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo, it has spent five years in American oak barrels, giving the aromas a refined polish. On the palate, there are still plenty of juicy red fruits—strawberries and cherries—combined with delicious, perfectly balanced savory notes. Everything you would expect from a classic aged Rioja. 2024-2030

About wine:
The Viña Bosconia Reserva 2012 may be a little too young (María José López de Heredia likes more polished wines, and for her this wine was too harsh), with some tannins and the chalky texture of limestone soils. This blend of Tempranillo with 15% Garnacho and 5% Graciano and Mazuelo has been aged in used American oak barrels for five years. 80,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2019. 2022-2030
