Bodega y Vinedos Labastida
Bodega Labastida is an estate nestled between the Cantabrian Mountains (Sierra Cantabria) and the River Ebro in Spain. The Bodega Labastida vineyard covers 540 hectares. It is one of the largest in the Rioja region and benefits from climatic conditions that are unique in Spain, providing the vines with the optimum conditions for obtaining irreproachable grape quality.

For almost half a century, Bodega Labastida has been applying its know-how and experience to the production of quality wines. Owner Manuel Ruiz Hernandez perpetuates a rich tradition, combining it with the best winemaking techniques. The family winery at the top of the Labastida estate is equipped with the latest technology, and it is within a network of cellars dating back to the 15th century that these magnificent Rioja wines are matured.

Aged only 3 months in barrel, El Pionero reveals intense aromas of vanilla and chocolate with a touch of coffee. The bouquet is well-balanced, fruity and spicy. On the palate, red fruit, licorice and dark chocolate follow through to a long, warm finish.

On the nose, this "blanc sur lies" is highly aromatic, with notes of fruit in syrup and brioche. The palate is round and suave, with a complexity of lemony aromas, a hint of pineapple, tobacco and aromatic herbs. The finish is mineral and extremely elegant.

Manuel Quintano - Rioja Riserva 2014

After 30 months in barrel and at least 12 months in bottle, this Rioja Riserva is a deep, cherry-red wine. The nose reveals aromas of macerated fruit, aromatic herbs and fig. The palate is complex, with notes of ripe fruit, tobacco and licorice. A beautifully balanced bottle!

The Bodega's know-how combined with a year of exceptional weather conditions in Rioja have led to the creation of this great Manuel Quintano vintage. Complex, with aromas of ripe fruit and tobacco, and notes of cinnamon and spices on aeration, with a fine presence of tannins on the palate and, above all, plenty of freshness for a delicious, long finish. Superb!

Year after year, Bodegas Castillo Labastida'sCuvée Reserva shows unfailing consistency of quality, brought about by rigorous control of fermentation and prolonged ageing (24 months) in French and American oak barrels. The 2004 vintage is intense, complex and pleasing, with notes of wild fruit, cocoa, cherry, spices, tobacco... A must-discover!
