Terrerazo
Terrerazo is an appellation attributed to a very limited production area in the municipality of Utiel, in the province of Valencia, Spain. It was granted DOP status in September 2010, roughly equivalent to the former French Vin de Pays. A rare phenomenon, but already known in France, the appellation actually covers only the 89 hectares of vineyards of Bodegas Mustiguillo.

Situated a hundred kilometers from the sea, the Terrerazo appellation enjoys a Mediterranean climate, despite being located in one of Spain's coolest regions. The vineyards are rooted in a sandy-clay limestone crust.

Thanks to the specificity of the Bodegas Mustiguillo terroir, the vintages offer a variety of aromas derived from the diversity of the blends. Mestizaje, for example, is made from the appellation's signature grape variety, Bobal, along with Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. Bodegas Mustiguillo's youngest cru is complemented by its elders: Finca Terrerazo and the rare Quincha Corral. Alongside these red wines, the estate offers a magnificent white wine made from a single variety of Merseguera: Finca Calvestra.

Toni Sarrión is the king of the Bobal grape, a remarkable indigenous Valencian variety which produces here a wine of red fruits with aromas of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, light toasted notes, with a very pleasant, creamy attack on the palate, with velvety, round and soft tannins. The finish is long and fresh... To be discovered!
