Terrerazo is an appellation attributed to a very limited production area in the municipality of Utiel, in the province of Valencia, Spain. It was granted DOP status in September 2010, roughly equivalent to the former French Vin de Pays. A rare phenomenon, but already known in France, the appellation actually covers only the 89 hectares of vines of Bodegas Mustiguillo.
Situated a hundred kilometers from the sea, the Terrerazo appellation enjoys a Mediterranean climate, despite being located in one of the coolest regions of Spain. The vineyards are rooted in a sandy-clay limestone crust.
