Bodegas Mustiguillo
Bodega Mustiguillo is located on the altiplano of the Valencia region, at an altitude of over 800 m, and was created by Toni Sarrión in 1999 with the aim of restoring the reputation of Bobal, a remarkable indigenous Valencian grape variety (highly recognizable for its beautiful balanced acidity and unique color among all southern varieties). Bodega Mustiguillo's 89-hectare vineyard is certified organic (ecological), and yields are extremely low, at 12 to 18 Hl/Ha. The climate is continental, although in a Mediterranean area, strongly influenced by altitude and distance from the sea, with low rainfall and large temperature differences between day and night. The soil is sandy-clay with a high density of sediments, on a limestone subsoil that outcrops at a depth of only 60 cm to 1 m.
In 2010, Bodega Mustiguillo was classified among the "Grandes Pagos de España" (equivalent to our grands crus) alongside the illustrious AALTO and MAS DOIX, among others. Often promoted by Ferran Adria, owner of the world's best restaurant EL Bulli, the great vintages (Quincha Corral and Finca Terrerazo) are regularly rated 94 and 95 by Peñín and 92 to 95 by Robert Parker.
