Bodega Elias Mora
Bodega Elias Mora in D.O. Toro is in the hands of Viki Benavides and produces spectacular wines. Victoria Benavides took over Bodega Elias Mora in 2000, having previously created Bodega José Pariente in nearby Rueda.

Accompanied by a young, highly feminized team, she has masterfully steered the estate to the highest international level, thanks to an uncommon sensitivity and respect for the autochthonous grape variety and terroir. Bodega Elias Mora's wines are sought after the world over and acclaimed by the international press.

Situated between the Ruero and Hornija rivers, Bodega Elias Mora's vineyards are planted on gravelly soils laid down on brown limestone and low in organic matter, allowing the vines to grow vigorously and forcing the roots to seek water deep down. The extreme continental nature of the climate, combined with the lack of rainfall and the altitude of the vineyard (800 m on average), enable Tinta de Toro to achieve the best possible balance.

Viki and Vanessa's extremely respectful work in the free-standing vineyards enables the full potential of the Toro terroir to be expressed. The great wines of Bodega Elias Mora are elegant, opulent, powerful and generous. According to Robert Parker, they are reminiscent of our Bordeaux Premiers Crus Classés.

Bodegas Elias Mora - Vinas Elias Mora 2009

Rating: Guia Penin 90/100
This fine cuvée is produced by winemaker Victoria Benavides, who took over the Bodega in 2000. This "Toro " expresses itself with aromas of cedar, tobacco, spice box, violets, plum and blackberry, and displays a strong personality at a very interesting price/quality ratio!

Bodegas Elias Mora - 2V Premium 2005

Notes : Robert Parker 96/100, RVF 17/20
"The 2V Premium 2005, made from very old vines, is our favorite. A deep, velvety wine with woody but well blended tannins". (RVF Nº 551 - May 2011)

3/5 (1 review)

Notes : Robert Parker 93+/100, Wine Spectator 95/100, RVF 16/20
"The 2005 gran Elias Mora comes from a single plot planted with vines over 70 years old. Black purple in color, it offers a distinguished bouquet of toast, wet earth, violets, lavender, blackberry and licorice. The wine is powerful, opulent and well-structured, with complex aromas and ripe tannins. The wine is well-balanced and will require patience". (Robert Parker - February 2008)
