Cantina Scagliola
The Scagliola brothers, Maggiorino and Mario, come from an ancient family of winegrowers, and inherited a small vineyard on a hillside in the commune of San Siro, near the town of Calosso, in the center of the province of Asti. Although this is one of the regions with the greatest concentration of vineyards in Italy, the Scagliolas have preserved the reputation of Asti wines through the quality of their work. Meticulous vineyard management and undeniable expertise in winemaking enable this estate to produce excellent, award-winning red wines.

The vineyards of the Scagliola estate are cultivated using the most natural methods possible. Harvesting is done by hand and vinification is carried out with the utmost gentleness. Scagliola wines are made from the region's traditional grape varieties, with the addition of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel to produce outstanding wines in the Nebbiolo, Barbera-Langhe, Asti, Alba and Monferrato appellations.

Cuvée Monferrato Da Sempre is a reference to the estate's family tradition: a wine made for thirst, young and lively. A magnificent example of the use of the Piedmontese Dolcetto grape variety, it delivers a fresh, pleasantly fruity expression in the great tradition of everyday Italian wines.

This lovely, slightly sparkling "Premier Baiser", 100% muscat blanc "di canelli", opens with a light, fresh nose, offering notes of white flowers and wild herbs (sage, rosemary...). Soft and delicate on the palate, with lively bubbles and a long, persistent finish. This elegant Muscat, low in alcohol (5°), is best enjoyed slightly chilled as an aperitif or with dessert.

Cantina Scagliola - Sansi 2004

Sansi" means "San Siro" in Piedmont dialect, the name of the place where the estate's winery is located. This cuvée is a sign of our determination to make a top-of-the-range wine. In Italy, the first attempts at this type of wine are known as "cavallo di battagli": the mount with which one launches oneself, hence the label. Sansi 2004 is richly aromatic, with notes of ripe fruit, cocoa and spices (vanilla), and a long, lingering finish. A very fine bottle!
