Domaine Duemani

Duemani is owned by Luca d'Atoma and his wife Elena. A man of passion, he is one of the giants of Italian oenology, alongside Angelo Gaja and Elio Altare. Acclaimed by the world's press, he is the consultant oenologist for legendary estates such as Tua Rita (the first estate to achieve a 100/100 Parker rating in Italy), Le Machiole (Bolgheri) and others. It was in 2000 that the Atoma family decided to set out and produce their own wine. They bought 8 ha on one of the best Tuscan terroirs, around Riparbella, south-east of Florence, and around Bolgheri, to make one of Italy's greatest wines: Duemani (meaning: two hands).

They planted 3 grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot, and produced a total of just under 40,000 bottles. The soil structure is extraordinary, with a predominance of clay and stone. The low fertility of this soil gives a more pronounced character and complexity to Duemani wines. The estate's unique position, at an altitude of 200 m in a west-facing amphitheater facing the Etruscan coast, gives it perfect ventilation, allowing the eradication of all chemicals, as well as excellent berry quality for the wine. The vines are cultivated biodynamically, with no use of chemicals either in the vineyard or in the cellars, where Luca uses only indigenous yeasts. For vinification, he uses concrete vats and wooden vats, to preserve all the delicacy of the berries.

In just 10 years, Luca and Elena have taken their estate to the highest summits, their wines acclaimed by the international press and awarded top marks every year by critics such as Parker, Stephan Tanzer, James Suckling and others.
