Domaine Labet is a 12-hectare family estate created in 1974 by Alain and Josie Labet, and divided into 44 parcels of vines in the Côtes du Jura appellation. Prior to this date, the Labet family had already been cultivating vines, but in the manner of all Jura farms, in a highly diversified way, also farming and raising livestock. Farms tended to be self-sufficient, and surpluses were sold to buy what could not be produced.
In addition to Domaine Labet since 2003, but quite separate from the main estate, is son Julien's 3-hectare "garden", which has been farmed organically since 2007 (Ecocert organic conversion as of 2009). Domaine Labet cultivates all Jura wines, its speciality being its parcel-based cuvées: 17 crus, 6 reds, 11 whites, including one pure Savagnin.
