Domaine Léon Barral
Domaine Léon Barral is located in the hamlet of Lanthéric, and is run by Didier Barral, a man of conviction who settled on the estate in the early 1990s and has never ceased to seek the most authentic expression of his terroir. His viticulture is sustainable, respecting the ecosystem, encouraging interaction between the plant and animal kingdoms, and reinforcing the vine's immunity.

The 25-hectare Domaine Léon Barral vineyard is rooted in schist slopes sheltered by the Cévennes foothills. The vines are pampered, weeded and smoked by a herd of Jersey cows that graze from October to mid-April. As the owner of the estate is wont to say, "the wine begins to be made when the pruning shears are placed on the wood". Harvesting is done by hand, and vinification follows a process that respects and delivers the most authentic expression of the grape. The quality of Domaine Léon Barral wines has earned them a place on many gourmet tables.

"Cuvée signature du domaine, a marvel of unique character".

This blend, composed mainly of Carignan and Syrah, takes on a whole new dimension with its savory, elegant character, generous black fruits and spices; and above all, a beautiful mineral expression from the schist soils, tamed by very careful biodynamic cultivation.

(2011 vintage notes)

The Cuvée Tradition is aged in vats, with the aim of preserving its authenticity and the pleasure of fruit. The aromas of red and black fruits make up a beautiful palette, with a few wilder, even animal notes. The velvety mouthfeel and fine tannins, not to mention undeniable freshness, make this cuvée a true pleasure wine!
