Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

This 35-hectare estate in Montagnac is known for its Picpoul de Pinet wines. Yves and his daughter Anaïs run it biodynamically and are experimenting with new containers, including ceramic and stoneware dolias. Don't miss Bréchallune, a Picpoul aged slowly on lees that departs from the classic style of the appellation, or Le Chant des Dolia, a stunning Languedoc that goes far beyond the standard of this regional appellation.

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the estate:

Focused on melon cultivation and supplying a cooperative winery, the estate took a major turn in 2004 with the creation of a wine cellar. In 2009, Anaïs Ricôme joined her father Yves at the head of a 35-hectare (organic) vineyard, created a new range, and developed sales.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

Rouge Cerise is a delicious, gurgling treat that makes us stop at Croix Gratiot, the only Picpoul de Pinet estate in our guide... For now.

About the estate:

Anaïs Ricôme is the benchmark for Picpoul de Pinet, producing wines of great purity on this beautiful clay-limestone terroir. The appellation produces some of the greatest white wines of the Languedoc, marked by the sea breezes, straightforward and iodized, made from the Piquepoul grape variety. After studying viticulture and oenology and gaining experience in a New Zealand vineyard, her father, Yves, offered her the opportunity to take over this estate near Marseillan. As soon as she settled in, she took some drastic decisions: reducing the size of the vineyard to better control quality, converting the estate to organic farming and using certain biodynamic practices. The wines are very light, with a preference for stainless steel, sandstone, and old casks. The result is brilliant, lively, and energetic wines of great precision. Quality is once again the order of the day.
