"Complex and proudly Languedoc"

"Shade for cool nights, light for warm days, a contrast that suits this vigorous white wine made from Roussanne (80%). We love the brightness of the nose, with notes of quince, exotic fruits, and white flowers, and the volume of an equally expressive palate, perfectly rounded yet lively, with a bitterness that nicely extends the fruit on the finish." (Le Guide Hachette 2025).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

After Bernard Durand, who oversaw the conversion of Pic Saint-Loup from mixed farming with a focus on sheep to its recognition as a quality wine-growing area, his nephew Régis Valentin took over the technical reins. Without fanfare, this is a domaine to seek out for its Vieilles Vignes cuvée, which is powerful yet flavorful, its Clos des Combes, and its Grande Cuvée. The Cuvée Madame is even more ambitious and the rosé is consistently delicious.

About wine:

Shade for cool nights, light for warm days—a contrast that suits this vigorous white wine made from Roussanne grapes (80%). We love the brightness of the nose, with notes of quince, exotic fruits, and white flowers, and the volume of an equally expressive palate, perfectly round yet lively, with a bitterness that nicely extends the fruit on the finish. Complex and proudly Languedoc.

About the estate:

Régis Valentin, oenologist and cellar master, took over the estate in 2001, which was founded in 1960 by the Durand-Valentin families. He produces wines from 80 hectares of vines (in conversion to organic farming since 2019) on beautiful terroir of hard limestone and red clay. A sure bet in the Languedoc region.
