The Languedoc appellation is a regional appellation which, since the decree of April 30, 2007, has been extended to all the AOCs of Languedoc and Roussillon under the single name Languedoc. The diversity of the terroirs and the typicality of the wines are reflected in the Languedoc hierarchy. Within the Languedoc appellation, we can distinguish the sub-regional appellations of Saint-Chinian, Faugères and Clairette du Languedoc, recognized as AOCs with their own specific decree. The addition of the communes of origin completes this hierarchy: Cabrières, La Méjanelle, Montpeyroux, Picpoul de Pinet, Quatourze, St-Christol, St-Drézéry, St Georges d'Orques, St Saturnin and Vérargues.
