"A Malepère dominated by Merlot, with a warm nose of stewed red and black fruit and hints of oak. The same gentle warmth emanates from a suave palate, backed by consistent but well-coated tannins, which finishes on the vanilla notes of the barrel. Generous and good ageing potential". About the wine:
A malepère dominated by Merlot, with a warm nose of stewed red and black fruit and hints of oak. The same gentle warmth emanates from a suave palate, backed by consistent but well-coated tannins, which finishes on the vanilla notes of the barrel. Generous and good ageing potential.
About the domain :
Situated 5 km from Carcassonne on the banks of the Canal du Midi, this is one of the oldest winegrowing estates in the Malepère region, dating back to the 13th century and the Roger Cahuzac de Caux family, and the vineyard to the 16th century. Acquired in 1871 by the ancestors of the current owners, an old Malepère family, the estate began to flourish around 1900. Its recent revival is linked to the rehabilitation of the winery in 2015 by the Boyer family, who took over the reins of the estate (70 ha, including 55 ha of vines).

Wine with character. Quite strong. Atypical taste. Quite good. May be excellent after a few years in the cellar... 2019 drunk in 2023.
