Leased until 2014, the Clos du Causse is a 1.5-hectare plot of land taken over by Guy Vanlancker, producer and winemaker of Domaine de la Combe Blanche. In 1981, this Belgian schoolteacher left the Ardennes to join the sunny Languedoc region on the La Livinière vineyard. He started out as a vineyard worker, then became a manager and winemaker for various estates in the region. There, he learned the trade before finally devoting himself to his own wines in 2000. The 17-hectare property, acquired in 1981, was redesigned and replanted, with one part in AOC dedicated to Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Roussanne, and another part in IGP with varieties less common to the region, such as Tempranillo, Pinot Noir and Viognier.
Le Clos du Causse was taken over in 2014, and from 2015 solely by Guy Vanlancker. This small vineyard is located 250 meters above the village of La Livinière, on the foothills of the Montagne Noire, which forms the boundary of the vineyard. Facing north, Clos du Causse extends over the great terroir of La Livinière, composed of small clay-limestone terraces. Guy Valancker signs his 1st vintage in 2015 with this very promising cuvée! A discovery 1Jour1Vin!

"Young Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre vines (15 years old) have shaped a wine that is more elegant than powerful, with a gourmet nose of fresh black fruits, candy and dried herbs. Full-bodied and invigorating on the attack, the palate, perfectly softened by long ageing in vats (24 months), unreservedly delivers a very pleasant, gourmet fruitiness, to be savored without delay". (Guide Hachette des Vins 2021). A success with great potential!
