"A small Loire Valley appellation that has everything to please, a crisp, fresh and fruity white".
"Archetypal contemporary Cheverny, with ripe citrus aromas and dynamic flesh on the palate. An extremely salivating frankness of expression. A lovely spring and summer white. Beautiful bitters give the finish tone". (La Revue du Vin de France July/August 2024)

Cheverny
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
Guide Hachette des vins

About the domain :
Vincent Hayer, the estate's operations manager for almost 20 years, became the manager of the property in 2020, a former clos du Château de Troussay, converted to organic since 2012 and biodynamic since 2015. Owned by the highly committed Chevrier family, the estate comprises 30 hectares divided between Cour-Cheverny and Cheverny, with very old Sauvignon vines in particular.

About the domain :
With the departure of Italian Laura Semeria, a new page is turned at Domaine de Montcy. [...] a family of investors from Orléans to lead the future of this biodynamically farmed estate in Cheverny. The wines presented here preserve the sincerity of their substance and aromas, without showing off, respecting the breeding and identity of Sauvignon and Chardonnay for the whites, and Pinot Noir and Gamay for the reds. Let's watch the transition...

Wine rated (guide 2023) 16/ 20
About the wine:
I'm not usually a fan of a Sauvignon and Chardonnay blend. It rarely works, usually tasting like a watered-down Sauvignon or a wasteful Chardonnay. But this little wine is simply a joy. It's fresh, full of summer fruit and flowers, the acidity is bright and ripe, just round enough, and the finish has the freshness and softness of grass on a freshly mown lawn. A summer picnic wine.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
Lovely nose of ripe apples, white peaches, wild herbs and some flowers. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Supple with a vibrant mid-palate and mellow finish. Made from Demeter-certified biodynamically grown grapes.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 07/04/2023
Freshness and, above all, suppleness in a full-bodied palate, bursting with overripe yellow fruit and quince, accompanied by acacia and herbaceous notes. A counterpoint of minerality and a hint of bitterness counterbalances the sweetness, bringing a welcome burst of vivacity to the finish. At 11°, this combination of roundness and fine acidity is perfect for Good Friday as an accompaniment to a spring salad of purple asparagus, spider crab and soft-boiled eggs. On the other hand, the pairing seems more hazardous, in my humble opinion, with fresh oysters Oléron. As a neophyte to this appellation, I'm not a fan, as the Sauvignon-Chardonnay pairing rather baffled me. Score = 3.6.
