Château de Coulaine
Château de Coulaine is located on the famous Véron terroir in the Loire Valley. Château de Coulaine is a very old family business with an unbroken winegrowing tradition since 1300. Taken in hand by Etienne de Bonnaventure in 1988, and then by his son Jean in 2017, the vineyard has expanded to 18 hectares under organic viticulture, a personal choice that is fully in line with the ongoing quest for a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity.

Two-thirds of Château de Coulaine's terroir is composed of clay-limestone slopes, the remainder of clay-silica plateaux, and the range produced is perfectly expressed in a very natural and unobtrusive way. Château de Coulaine estate wines are made exclusively from Cabernet Franc, producing top-quality wines in the Chinon appellation.

"A remarkable fruit!"

"On the red side, the Cuvée Château is irresistibly tender and fruity. If it expresses the beautiful maturity of the Cabernet Franc in 2022, with a fleshy vinosity, it retains a fresh impetus that we expect in this type of wine." (Le Guide RVF 2024) . This bottle is supple, full of freshness and fruit. Easy to match with everyday dishes or spring barbecues!

La Diablesse is made from organic vines over 70 years old. An emerging nose of fine aromatic amplitude is offset by a rich, concentrated palate of red fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry) and an assertive, sanguine tannic structure. The chalky minerality will reveal itself in several years. Great ageing potential!

"Big red

On the mythical terroir of Les Picasses, 100% clay-limestone on white tuffeau, this racy cuvée has a discreet nose of red fruit, which will soon become more intense. Its fine palate is frank and ample, with melted tannins marked by a chalky, graphite framework revealing the minerality of the place. A red to reserve in your cellar.

This Chinon blanc "Les Pieds Rôtis" comes from a parcel with very hot clay-limestone soil marked by white tuffeau chalk. Sunny and generous, with exotic notes, it oscillates between bitterness and fine acidity. The palate is mineral, smoky and slightly peppery. A fine expression of Chenin that will go well with roast poultry or Asian dishes based on coconut milk.

"Made with indigenous yeasts and aged in old oak, this wine is propelled by its tannins, rich red fruit and acidity. The wine comes from 30-year-old vines, giving just the right concentration while retaining vibrancy. Drink from 2021." (Wine Enthusiast 2019) Etienne de Bonnaventure produces here a tasty Chinon, with a limpid light red color, beautiful red fruit notes, and fullness on the palate.

Château de Coulaine - Chinon Francs de Pieds 2015

Planted in 2002, this plot is called Francs de Pieds because it is planted directly, without phylloxera-resistant rootstock. This allows for an even purer, simpler and more ethereal expression of the grape variety. This Chinon cuvée is not produced every year...
