"Impressive volume for this firm but not hard Chinon, very sunny".

"In red, we find the florality and fine textured grain of Picasses". (Le Guide RVF 2025) A very sunny, concentrated red, made from a selection of the estate's best plots, characterized by its very chalky, clayey, south-facing terroir, very good ageing potential, to be reserved in the cellar.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated domain (guide 2025) 3*Stars (High-quality production that sets the standard in its sector)

About the domain :

The new generation at the helm of the Bonnaventure family, Jean and Tatiana, are taking this historic estate to new heights. The age of the vines and the organic growing methods are contributing to the growing success of this property, which offers good value for money. Recommended range, serious address.

Guide Hachette des vins

Guide Hachette des vins

Vin noté (guide 2025) 1*Étoile (Vin très réussi)

About the wine :

The vigor of this cuvée would tend to make it seem a little austere. This vigor - the nose effortlessly picks out an athletic woodiness - is also due to a strong fruity presence dominated by blackberry jam. All of which suggests that the Cabernet Franc was fermented for a long time in vats before being aged for 9 months in barrels. In the end, a well-executed extraction produces a wine with good volume, firmness without hardness, energized by fine bitters on the finish.

Vin noté (guide 2025) 94/100 Coup de Cœur

Rated domain (guide 2025) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine :

In red, we find the florality and fine textured grain of the Picasses.

About the domain :

The estate has been in the Bonnaventure family since the Middle Ages, when the vines of the historic Château de Turpenay were planted. In 1988, Étienne and Pascale de Bonnaventure began to expand the estate. They revived the spirit of the great wines of Beaumont, the first step of the Chinon appellation, on the Loire side, where the more oceanic-influenced Cabernets gain in lace and fruit finesse, compared to those of the eastern part of the appellation. Today, Château de Coulaine produces a brilliant range of organic Chinons, combining fresh fruit and textural elegance. The vintages do not erase the expression of the terroirs: the suppleness (Beaumont clay and silica) in Château de Coulaine and the fresh firmness of the clay-limestone soils in Les Picasses, Clos de Turpenay (south-facing) and La Diablesse (in its old vine, north-facing version). Since January 2017, Jean de Bonnaventure, son of Étienne and Pascale, has been at the helm of the estate, continuing the family history with rigor, tact and sensitivity.
