Domaine Pierre Sourdais
Domaine Pierre Sourdais, created in the early 1980s from 8 hectares, is a family estate run with talent and passion, and one of the great names in Chinonnais.

Today, Domaine Pierre Sourdais boasts 27 hectares of vines, exclusively Cabernet Franc, some of which is over 60 years old, grown organically and certified since 2012. The gravel pits on the terraces along the banks of the Vienne River provide a unique environment for this grape variety, producing wines where fruitiness and easy drinking dominate. These gravel pits are complemented by plots on clay-limestone or flint-clay slopes and plateaus (Pallus, les Pentes, les Cornuelles, les Boulais and le Moulin à Tan), which lend structure and character to Pierre Sourdais wines.

At Domaine Pierre Sournais, working the soil has always been a priority, and the choice of organic farming is a natural extension of this. Chinon Pierre Sourdais wines have patiently built their reputation on remarkable grape quality and exemplary production rigor.

"The estate's reserve cuvée with great potential!"

"45-year-old vines planted on clay-limestone and flint-clay plots are at the origin of this foudre-aged cuvée. A sojourn in the staves has given it discreet toasty notes to complement the black fruits. A happy marriage of wood and fruit, extended by a warm, suave and solidly structured palate. Great potential. (Le Guide Hachette 2023)

A ruby-purple color for this Chinon Tradition, with a rich, complex, well-defined aromatic palette of ripe fruit. The palate is well-balanced, with a subtle hint of gravelly aromas in a fairly tannic profile... Best served with red meat!

Pierre Sourdais - Les Rosiers 2018

Blanc de noir ligérien, this 100% Cabernet Franc has salmon hues and aromas of white flowers. Smooth on the palate, with soft notes of white peach. Made from a flinty clay soil, this Chinon is a little special, with all the minerality and expression of its terroir.

"Another great success from this estate, a regular in our guide! Here's a Chinon that's all freshness and length, with ample, velvety flesh, in a style that's both precocious, deep and meticulous. You can stock up on it without hurting your wallet". (Le Guide des bonnes affaires du vin 2015 - Gerbelle & Maurange). A pleasant, aromatic cuvée, with scents of raspberry, blackcurrant, violet... Remarkable!
