"45-year-old vines planted on clay-limestone and flint-clay plots are at the origin of this foudre-aged cuvée. A sojourn in the staves has given it discreet toasty notes to complement the black fruit. A happy marriage of wood and fruit, extended by a warm, suave and solidly structured palate. Great potential. Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
Established since 1981 on part of the family estate in Cravant-les-Coteaux, Pierre Sourdais manages his 27 hectares of vines using organic farming methods, with terroirs on the plains and others on the hillsides. The reserve-stanislas and les-boulaies cuvées are the ones to look for first, as they give the wines with the best tannic structure and ageing potential.

About the domain :
It was at Moulin-à-Tan that oak bark used to be crushed for hide processing in the region's many tanneries. Today, the old mill has given way to a 27-hectare vineyard run organically by Pierre Sourdais, who is gradually handing over the reins to his daughter Caroline and son-in-law Sylvain. A sure bet in the Chinon region.
