Château de Brossay
Visit Château de Brossay, in Cléré-sur-Layon lies south of the Loire in the Deux-Sèvres département. Steeped in history, the building dates back to the 15th century and the winery to 1919, created by Alexis Deffois.
It's on this gravelly clay terroir on schist, located on the southern slope of the hillside between Cléré-sur-Layon and Passavant-sous-Layon, that the 4th generation of winegrowers is taking up the torch, embodied by Nicolas Tamboise and Benjamin Grandsart.

Today, the Château de Brossay vineyard extends over 45 hectares, and the vines are cultivated using HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certified sustainable viticulture methods. Château de Brossay white wines are made from Sauvignon, Chenin and Chardonnay grapes; red wines from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grolleau and Gamay. The Coteaux du Layon, the star of the region, and the great liquoreux, are made possible by the region's microclimate, characterized by mild winters and hot summers, and low rainfall.

3*Coup de Coeur Hachette

" There won't be enough for everyone! This rare cuvée is a magnificent golden color. Its intense nose combines the sweetness of jammy yellow fruit with fresh menthol notes. After a rich attack, the palate is beautifully balanced; apricot aromas are fully expressed on a mellow woodiness, followed by a long, drawn-out finish". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020) A holiday delight!
