Muscadet
Muscadet PDO covers a vast area around Nantes and was created in 1937. The appellation has the particularity of deriving its name from the grape variety rather than the geographical or historical region. The name dates back to the Middle Ages, and is reminiscent of Muscat wines from Cyprus.

Muscadet thrives in an oceanic climate characterized by low annual temperature variations and generous summer sunshine. The vines are exposed to the sea breeze, which favors an early start to vegetation. The terroirs of theMuscadet PDO are highly diverse, ranging from eruptive and metamorphic rocks such as granite, gneiss, micaschist and gabbro, to clay soils and pebble-rich sands.

The star grape of theMuscadet PDO is Melon de Bourgogne, whose precocious nature and resistance to cold make it an ideal choice for the region.
