Visit Frédéric Mabileau Estate sits on a terroir composed mainly of sand and gravel. A large proportion of the vines are between 35 and 50 years old, and benefit from excellent rooting to draw from the heart of the soil. The gently sloping hillsides produce more opulent, structured wines. The neighboring Bourgueil region offers more clayey soils, resulting in fleshier wines.
Wishing to respect the integrity of the grape from the vine to the vat, the Frédéric Mabileau Estate harvests the entire vineyard by hand, and sorts it on two successive sorting tables (before and after the destemmer). The result is fleshier grapes that ripen better, balancing acidity to produce supple, round, concentrated wines. One of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil's must-visit addresses!
