A pleasant discovery of this nervous, fine Saumur at a moderate price. Ethereal mouthfeel (13%), with a lovely palette of citrus and white-fleshed fruit in a fleshy texture, enveloping a refreshing frame of invigorating acidity, accentuated by a fine bitterness. Stylish length with salivating salinity. Cellaring potential: 10 years. Bluffing in its youth, this versatile white is easily placed with either seafood or white-fleshed fish, or for the time being with a fricassee of floured eel, cooked simply in foaming butter. Score = 3.8.
