Clos Henri Vineyard
Established in Sancerre for 10 generations, Domaine Henri Bourgeois has earned its reputation over the years. Once the estate was taken in hand by Henri Bourgeois' sons, Rémi and Jean-Marie, new challenges were launched, including exploring the wine world to find a new terroir for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

In 2000, after nearly 12 years of research, the Bourgeois family fell in love with the Marlborough region of New Zealand and the wines produced there. The decision was made, and the Bourgeois family set up Clos Henri on 98 hectares of pastureland. The first vines were planted a year later, producing the first vintage in 2003.
In 2007, Clos Henri acquired a further 11 hectares: the estate now covers 109 hectares of vines planted with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, 42 hectares of which have been certified organic since 2013.

91/100 Robert Parker

(2013 vintage notes)

In true Sancerrois style, Clos Henri's Sauvignon Blanc reveals intense aromas of ripe citrus and tropical fruit, woven together by a beautiful minerality. More abounding and rounded than New Zealand Sauvignons generally are, with notes of boxwood and gooseberry. All the same, it retains the freshness of the sun-drenched, sea-breezy Wairau Valley. A very fine white wine!
