Marlborough
In 1973, Marlborough vineyards were planted and operated on a commercial scale.
Located in the far north of New Zealand's South Island, the Marlborough region is surrounded by a small mountain range and crossed by the Wairau River.
This plain, made up mainly of alluvial soils, is now the cradle of New Zealand wine production.

Thanks to low rainfall, optimum sunshine in the vineyards, minimal risk of frost and poorly fertile, draining soil, the Marlborough region is ideally suited to growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and, above all, Sauvignon Blanc. Indeed, Marlborough is New Zealand's leading supplier of Sauvignon Blanc, accounting for some 80% of the country's total harvest.

Clos Henri Vineyard - Sauvignon Blanc 2014

91/100 Robert Parker

(2013 vintage notes)

In true Sancerrois style, Clos Henri's Sauvignon Blanc reveals intense aromas of ripe citrus and tropical fruit, woven together by a beautiful minerality. More abounding and rounded than New Zealand Sauvignons generally are, with notes of boxwood and gooseberry. All the same, it retains the freshness of the sun-drenched, sea-breezy Wairau Valley. A very fine white wine!
