Burmester peut s'enorgueillir d'une histoire riche remontant au XVIIIe siècle. En 1730, Henry Burmester et John Nash fondent la Burmester & Nash, commerce de céréales, à Londres. En 1750, à Vila Nova de Gaia, ils se lancent dans l'exportation de Vin de Porto vers l'Europe et les Iles britanniques. Le nom de la famille est originaire du village de Moelln, dans le Nord de l'Allemagne, et dérive du titre "Burgomestre", qui signifie "maire". A la fin du XVIIIe siècle, la société est dissoute et Henry Burmester Jr. fonde une nouvelle société de Vin de Porto, la H.Burmester & Sons.
A partir de 1952 la génération Burmester Gilbert - Helmut et Arnold - prend les affaires en main, fondant en 1962 une nouvelle compagnie de Vin de Porto - la Gilberts & Cº. Génération après génération, les Burmester et les Gilbert élèvent le nom Burmester au plus haut niveaux de qualité et de reconnaissance internationales.
Un joli Porto à la teinte légèrement orangée et à la brillance soutenue. Le nez distille des arômes de fruits mûrs comme la groseilles et l'oranges, ainsi que de légères notes vanillées et résineuses.
