Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

A major Provencal wine family, the Ott family entered the wine business with the acquisition of Château de Selle in 1912, Clos Mireille in 1930 and Domaine Romassan in 1956. Taken over by the Roederer group in 2004, the winegrowing activity continues under the leadership of Christian and Jean-François, the Ott cousins, proof that the family remains very much involved and is still a shareholder. The finest cuvées are all rosé and remain, with admirable regularity, among the most successful in Provence.

About the domain :

Alsatian by birth, the Ott family, who moved to Provence in 1896, acquired Romassan in 1956 (70 ha at the foot of Castellet in the Bandol appellation) and also owns Ch. de Selle and Clos Mireille in the Côtes-de-Provence region. Two AOCs and a unique bottle inspired by the Roman amphora. The business (owned by Champagne's Roederer since 2004) is run by cousins Christian and Jean-François Ott.

Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Domaines d'Ott Côtes de Provence Rose Château de Selle 2022 has a shy bouquet with aromas of lemon, peach, red berries and iodine. Taut and moderately weighted, it is fresh, lively and well-balanced, with notes of orchard fruit and a penetrating, persistent finish.

Vinous A. Galloni

Vinous A. Galloni

Wine rated (guide 2023) 93/100

About the wine:

The 2022 Rosé Château de Selle Cru Classé opens with a striking bouquet, blending dusty dried flowers with ginger, a spritz of lemon and crushed apples. It's supple and soothing to the senses, with a textural wave of white strawberry, candied orange and sweet indoor flowers. A core of bright acidity maintains fantastic balance as the wine finishes long and powerful. Mineral coloration and citrus notes tease the taste buds. Please pour me another.

Le Figaro vins

Rated wine (guide 2023 ) 91.5/100

About the wine:

A nose of raspberry and red berries, suggesting a much more opulent wine than its pale gold color would suggest. Some lemony, acidic aromas, followed by exotic, fresh, chiseled notes on the palate, with well-controlled acidity through to the finish.
