Domaines Ott
The heart of Provence distilled in a bottle with Ott wines
Born from the passion of a young Alsatian agronomist, Marcel Ott, who settled in the heart of the rolling and inspiring landscapes of Provence at the end of the 19th century, Ott wine has been winning over the hearts of the most discerning palates for over 100 years.
120 years of passion in the service of excellence
When Marcel Ott settled on the land that would later become the Ott estate, the region's vineyards were in poor condition. Phylloxera had destroyed the high-quality vines growing in the warm, rich soil of Provence, which had to be replanted in order to gradually create new, delicate, and warm flavors. 120 years later, the challenge has been met with flying colors. The Ott cousins, Christian and Jean-François, are now the worthy heirs to a passion for wine that is still alive and well, which they bring to life through the Ott estate's red, white, and rosé wines, whose flavors and quality are undeniable.
A trio of complementary domains
The Ott estate's wine production is divided into three areas. Château de Selle, Marcel Ott's first acquisition in 1912, is located in Taradeau, near Thoronet Abbey. Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah share its arid, mineral-rich soil. The average age of these vines is 19 years. Clos Mireille, facing the Mediterranean, is bathed in sunshine and sea breezes. Its schistose and clayey soil, without limestone, produces wines with delicate and refined flavors that will take you on a journey between land and sea. Finally, Château Romassan, located in the Var, has hard, dry soil crushed by the sun, rich in limestone, sandstone, and marl. From this ungenerous cradle come particularly robust Bandol AOC wines with an inimitable character. The estate's land, organized into small plots, is home to Mourvèdre, as well as Cinsault, Syrah, and Grenache grape varieties, whose resistant vines live for an average of 25 years.
The wines produced by these three estates each have their own distinct identity, but they share one thing: the bottle!
The wines of the Ott estate
Ott wines are easily recognizable by their iconic bottle, created by Marcel Ott himself in 1930 and inspired by ancient amphorae that kept wine fresh and thirst-quenching. This unique container holds elixirs that will appeal to all palates. Château de Selle produces AOC Côtes de Provence rosé and red wines. The Ott estate's rosé wine is not limited to this single location; it is also present at Clos Mireille, where a fresh and supple rosé with citrus notes sits alongside a blanc de blanc with hints of broom. Château Romassan is the heart of a more robust production of red and rosé wines with a lingering finish.
You will also find Ott white, rosé, and red wines, produced by BY O.T.T., made from special grape varieties grown in the new winery located in the Château de Selle.
Finally, let's not forget Étoile, the Ott estate's signature rosé wine, produced from a unique blend of grapes from the three Ott estates. This union breaks with the conventions of winemaking to produce a unique rosé wine that explodes on the palate, sublimating the harshness of the dry land, the Mediterranean winds, the aridity and the sunny character of Provence in unique and incredibly balanced aromatic notes. The perfect pairing!
