About the domain :
Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin was created in 1983 with the purchase of a parcel of vines in Côte-Rôtie. Jean-Michel comes from a family that has been in the region for 6 generations. The estate's first cuvée was created in 1987, following the integration of the family vineyards (those of Marcel and Alfred Guerin) into the Jean-Michel Gerin estate. In 1988, the estate carried out its first separate vinification, first on the "Les Grandes Places" plot, then in 1996 with grapes from the "La Landonne" parcel. In the early 1990s, Jean-Michel Gerin undertook the construction of a new winery and barrel cellar. The vineyard was expanded in 2003 with the planting of the "La viallière" parcel in Côte-Rôtie, on slopes ranging from 40% to 60%. The first vintages are produced in 2009. Michaël and Alexis Gerin later joined the Jean-Michel Gerin estate, which expanded to a dozen hectares in the 2010s.

Good value for money, better than many Crozes Ermitage, a pleasant Syrah.

Without revolutionizing the genre, a well-matured CDR, both fruity and peppery on a background of acidity, very easy to digest and all-purpose with its half-body, particularly as an accompaniment to pork chops with herbs on a Bbq and tomatoes a la provençale. Score = 3.7.
