Domaine de la Gayère
At the helm of Domaine de la Gayère, Christèle Plantevin, fifth generation of this family estate founded in 1902, now cultivates 50 hectares of vines in Cairanne. This small southern village is located in the Haut Vaucluse, a stone's throw from the Enclave des Papes, and reconciles the northern Rhône and its Syrah with the very southern Grenache and Mourvèdre.  In 2016, the producers of Côtes-du-Rhône Village Cairanne obtained their transition to the Cairanne Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée. Thus, the first vintage produced underthe Cairanne appellationis the 2015 vintage, for both reds and whites.

The vines of Domaine de la Gayère thrive on a terroir of garrigue, red clay, and pebbles, which gives its wines power and complexity, in keeping with the typical characteristics of this southern appellation.
Half of the vines are over 30 years old, and some are over 65 years old. True to the hallmarks of the wines of this region,Domaine de la Gayère blendsthe traditional Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Syrah grape varieties to give the red wines of the Côtes du Rhône and Cairanne appellations their richness and typical character. The estate's white wines are produced in limited quantities and are blends of Clairette and Bourboulenc.
