"No wood in this cuvée dominated by Grenache (60%), but fruit that expresses itself unvarnished, with flavors of Morello cherry and stewed strawberry, enhanced by a hint of tonka bean. Supple and velvety, supported by round, finely extracted tannins, the palate delivers a delicious fruitiness that stretches into a fresh finish with distinctive accents of licorice". About the wine:
No wood in this cuvée dominated by Grenache (60%), but fruit that expresses itself unvarnished, with flavors of Morello cherry and stewed strawberry, enhanced by a hint of tonka bean. Supple and velvety, supported by round, finely extracted tannins, the palate delivers delicious fruitiness, stretching to a fresh finish with typical licorice accents. A classic that has it all.
About the domain :
Since 2005, brothers David and Éric Martin have been running the family estate, created in 1905 from 5 ha on the Plan de Dieu. Today, they manage 80 ha of vines.

About the wine:
Grilled nose, black fruits. Quite wild, with forest fruits, sage and chewy, very firm tannins. The acidity is good, but the thick tannins and toasty taste need to integrate.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 29/06/2024
A rather simple Cairanne, with no fuss or muss, but so effective with its very Mediterranean accents. A profusion of freshly picked wild berries woodland berries glide harmoniously on the palate, with a crispness crispness rather than woodiness. Full-bodied, generous and silky, supported by wonderfully ripe, delicious tannins. Fine notes of licorice and cocoa reinforce the opulence and persistence of the finish. This well-structured, reasonably priced Cairanne was a good partner for confit pork shanks and boulangère potatoes. Score = 4.2.
