"Châteauneuf du Pape lovers must have this bottle in their cellar!
"Superb notes of cassis, violets, graphite, fruitcake, peppery herbs define this brilliant achievement, in a full-bodied wine, and with a pure, contourless texture, gorgeous tannins and a damn fine finish. This magical 2019 will benefit from another 4-5 years in bottle (though already great today) and will keep for another 20 years or more. Châteauneuf du Pape lovers must have this bottle in their cellar!" (Jeb Dunnuck 2022)

Alain Jaume - Grand Veneur
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
A key figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume's family runs a top-quality wine merchant business, as well as owning fine vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their main source of pride is the grand-veneur wine, a classic Châteauneuf. Clos de Sixte, the family estate in Tavel, offers a fine image of the cru, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cuvée de vieilles-vignes is one of the appellation's finest wines. The estate's destiny is being brilliantly ensured by Alain Jaume's children.
Guide Hachette des vins

About the domain :
Of Castelpapal origin, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, perpetuate a winegrowing tradition that dates back to 1826. They manage a 155-hectare organic vineyard spread over 4 domains sites: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in AOC Côtes-du-Rhône, all complemented by a trading activity. A sure bet.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Domain rated 4*Stars (top-quality production)
About the domain :
The Jaume family have been winegrowers "...since Mathieu Jaume decided to cultivate vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1826". Today, Odile and Alain Jaume and their sons, Christophe and Sébastien, manage a 70-hectare vineyard (Domaine Grand Veneur, Clos de Sixte), which also includes the Lirac and Côtes du Rhône appellations. Grenache noir and Syrah dominate the grape varieties. The estate began the transition to organic farming in 2009.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2022 guide) 97+/100
Domain rated (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Always the densest and richest of this benchmark estate's cuvées, the Vieilles Vignes 2019 displays layered cedar and mocha scents against a background of black cherries. In fact, this wine is a little like a Black Forest cake - ripe, rich and dense, with hints of chocolate and vanilla - but it remains dry and savory on the finish, with velvety tannins and extraordinary length.
