"A splendid cuvée, in the image of its terroir!

"Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc 2022 is unrivalled in its precision and concentration. Honeyed quince, white flowers, honeysuckle, chalky minerality and toasty spice notes define the aromas. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with lovely mid-palate depth and a remarkable sense of freshness, yet remains rich and textured." (Jeb Dunnuck 2021)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)

About the domain :

Beaucastel has been owned by the Perrin family since 1909, and is now run by Jean-Pierre and François, the sons of Jacques Perrin, along with Cécile, Marc, Pierre, Thomas, Charles, Mathieu and César, the fifth generation. In other words: a family affair! Situated on a 100-hectare terroir of rolled pebbles, including 30 hectares of Côtes du Rhône (Coudoulet de Beaucastel), Château Beaucastel produces four wines. In white, a classic cuvée dominated by Roussanne, and the famous cuvée Roussanne-Vieilles-Vignes. In the reds, Mourvèdre plays a major role, accounting for almost a third of plantings, as much as Grenache. This unusual proportion was strategic in 2018, helping to achieve Beaucastel's characteristic finesse and freshness. This is undoubtedly one of France's finest wine estates, with, it seems to us, an added purity in recent years.

About the wine:

An aromatic vintage at this stage, with honeyed pear and honeysuckle characters. Full, round and generous, with lots of glycerol, cut by strong acidity. Alcohol only slightly warms. Certainly a rich vintage, all power, weight and ripeness.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Beaucastel's Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2022, 80% Roussanne and the rest a blend of other authorized white grape varieties, is a wine of great finesse. Notes of tangerine and peach are round and fleshy on the full-bodied palate, which is quite rich and mellow to the touch, but long and harmonious on the finish. It's truly remarkable that it can be so ripe and sumptuous yet balanced.

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning connoisseurs).

About the domain :

With its distinctive terroir of rolled pebbles, Château de Beaucastel is one of the emblems of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This estate is proud to be one of the few to use all thirteen authorized grape varieties to produce its red wine. A wine of consistently high quality, but one that faces competition from cuvées that have upset the appellation's hierarchy. Of course, the extremely rare and remarkable cuvée Hommage à Jacques Perrin, made from a large majority of Mourvèdre and produced only in the best years, remains a benchmark, as does the sumptuous white Roussanne Vieilles Vignes, which reveals itself with age. Under the efficient management of the Perrin family, Château de Beaucastel remains a benchmark for wines from the South of France, a status it must now share with other estates that have reached, or even surpassed, its level.

Rated wine (guide 2023 ) 17/20

About the wine:

Beautiful nutty notes on the nose - almond, marzipan and spiced pear. The palate is rich and dense - textured, full and almost sweet. Marzipan is present on the finish. Honeyed finish, powerful and very rich, broad and golden. Well-balanced but very big!

Wine rated (guide 2023) 93-95/100

About the wine:

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2022 has the potential to surpass the previous four vintages. This 2022 white surprises with bewitching aromas of spring flowers, lime and lemon flesh, pear, white peach, quince and a tropical touch of melon. With an alcohol content of 14%, it's extremely fresh, offering ripe, juicy fruit and exceptional flavor definition. The sapid finish lingers for over a minute.

Wine rated (guide 2024) 95/100

About the wine:

Fantastic nose of cooked apricots, a broad spectrum of candied fruits and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, concentrated and creamy, with a very caressing mid-palate texture and a very long finish of great controlled power. Made from organic grapes. For drinking or cellaring.
