"Elegance and refinement

"Vinified with 100% whole grapes, the wine develops a scent of bramble and wild berries. But in retro-olfaction, we find chocolate cherry. It gains in complexity on opening. The mid-palate is very velvety, but the fruit is both full and fine". (La Revue du Vin de France n° 650 - May 2021) Drink now or cellar for many years...

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Rated (2020 guide) 90/100 (Wonderful wine)

Domain rated (guide 2020) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

With scents of cherry, leather and licorice, the nose of the 2018 Châteauneuf du Pape evokes a pleasant flashback to the Rhône wines of yesteryear. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and silky, a little less generous than expected, tight and concentrated, with a lively but persistent finish.

Domain rated (guide 2022) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

Its elegant fragrance is guided by the whole harvest. A deep, flavorful palate where finesse, in harmony with the saffron terroir, remains the main focus. Not to be missed.

About the domain :

Located in the northern part of the Châteauneuf appellation, in the village of Courthezon, this estate, rich in old vines, has belonged to the Charrier family for three generations. The Cristia, Pointu and La Guigasse plots produce the red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 99% Grenache, harvested whole and aged in concrete vats. Caroline is in charge of vinification, while her brother Frédéric looks after the vines. From IGP Vaucluse to Châteauneuf, the style of the wines is convincing.

Wine rated 91/ 100

About the wine:

This 98% Grenache cuvée boasts charming, complex aromas of garrigue garrigue, ripe cherries and raspberries. Its texture is lush and creamy despite concrete vinification and ageing. The tannins are supple, giving a lush, creamy mouthfeel and a delicate finish that still retains an impression of final power with ample violets. with ample hints of viandé. This is a fleshy, full-bodied wine with a juicy a juicy but earthy profile and dense, chalky tannins on the finish. Drink now or cellar for many years.

Lacks concentration, depth and fruit. The finish is rather short, perhaps due to the vintage.
