Robert Parker
"Even richer and more structured, but still fresh, pure and precise, Châteauneuf du Pape cuvée Prestige blanc 2013 is a blend of Roussanne and Grenache blanc. With no new barrels, it's a fleshy, rich, textured and decadent wine that delivers sublime notes of yellow fruit, brioche, white flowers and a subtle salinity that asserts itself more on the palate. This is one of the appellation's top 2-3 wines, not to be missed." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

Domaine de la Janasse
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
Woody, but behind the wood are beautiful notes of fennel and anise, and a length that is rare in this vintage. More successful than the estate's traditional reds.
About the domain :
On the finest terroirs in Courthézon, the Domaine de la Janasse, the pride of the Sabon family, has established itself as one of the appellation's benchmarks for over 40 years. Christophe Sabon produces Côtes-du-Rhône wines of the highest level, with rare depth. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are expressed through different cuvées: chaupin, from a cold terroir with a very Burgundian approach, or the cuvée vieilles-vignes, sunnier and racier. Finally, the whites, in the shadow of the reds, are just as recommendable. The entire range is beyond reproach, and the great vintages are among the appellation's benchmarks.

About the domain :
A regular in the Guide, often featured prominently for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône and IGP wines. Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabelle, children of Aimé Sabon, who founded the estate in 1973, manage a 90-hectare vineyard scattered over many parcels. The estate was completed in 2015 with the purchase of Clos Saint-Antonin and its 15 ha of vines in the Jonquières commune.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2016 guide) 16.5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
This prestige cuvée is composed of 60% old-vine roussanne, giving it a lovely, suave texture on the palate, with essences of lemon oil. Fruity, floral and spicy, with a light, deliciously iodized finish.

Rated (2016 guide) 18/20 (Grand vin)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
As for the white, with its fine reduction, it does not lack distinction. Its fruit is clean, precise and long on the palate: a lovely wine to cellar.
About the domain :
This great estate, which has belonged to the Sabon family for generations, is one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's elite. Most of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vines are located in the commune of Courthézon, with the parcels and soils of the various cuvées being fragmented. The domaine also produces some splendid Côtes-du-Rhône cuvées (important in terms of volume), from vines adjacent to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. With often very high maturities, the wines are opulent in style, sometimes a little too warm in sunny vintages. On the other hand, the tannins and textures are always of great finesse. In recent vintages, the wines have become less rich and slightly more digestible.

A wine with floral aromas. Full-bodied on the palate, with a touch of acidity on the finish. Good length and staying power after 10 years. But it's still very expensive.
