"What a wonderful coup de cœur this 2016 is: has a nose of finesse, blending notes of acacia, grapefruit, and peach, responds to a mineral, racy palate, with sovereign balance and rare aromatic persistence. A great southern white ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the domain :
Things are moving forward at the mighty Ampuis estate. In the north, Philippe Guigal has made no secret of his desire to eventually go organic, and recent plantings at Le Plomb have been carried out to enable winch-operated work. But it's in the south that the most important projects are underway, with a new winery operational at Château de Nalys from the 2025 harvest, and new buildings expected by 2026. Otherwise, the first tastings - still unofficial - of La Reynarde, the future new jewel in the crown of Côte Rôtie, continue, showing those who doubted the beauty of the Fongeant terroir.

About the wine:
This 2016 is a real coup de cœur: a fine nose, combining notes of acacia, grapefruit and peach, is matched by a mineral, racy palate, with sovereign balance and rare aromatic persistence. A great southern white.
About the domain :
One of the oldest domains in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, recorded as early as the 17th century and then owned by the Nalys family. Its venerable vineyard (52 ha) underwent a renaissance in the 1950s. A sure bet for the appellation, acquired in 2017 by Maison Guigal. Organic conversion is underway.

About the wine:
Medium-bodied to opulent, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc offers hints of honey and orange on the nose, and a seductively round texture on the palate with taut notes of zest on the finish.

Good body, broad palate with lovely ripe fruit aromas, nice length. A wine built more on fatness, fullness and roundness than on minerality. A little more tension would undoubtedly have verticalized the whole. Each vintage has its own pleasures and each has its own tastes...

Drunk in 02/20. Nose of white fruit. Supple, round on the palate, too well-balanced as it lacks a touch of acidity to give it more body.
