Château de Nalys
For over 4 centuries Domaine de Nalys is unquestionably one of the oldest estates in Papal lands. Located in Courthézon in the Vaucluse, this 52-hectare estate cultivates the 13 grape varieties of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation in the traditional way. Le Domaine de Nalys is encircled by three parcels, the first of which gave it its name: Nalys, the other two being located on two of the appellation's major terroirs: Le Bois Sénéchal and La Crau.

Domaine de Nalys wines are made to a consistently high quality. Nalys ' classic style was modernized as early as 1950, returning today to the more traditional style of Châteauneuf du Pape wines. July 2017 marks a turning point in the history of this family estate, with its acquisition by the Guigal family, now renamed Château de Nalys. The rest of the story is still being written...

"A Châteauneuf of extraordinary charm".

"The transition in the cellar under Ralph Garcin seems to be bearing fruit, as witnessed by the three consecutive Favorites s over the last three editions. On view this year is the estate's classic label, a stunning 2021 with a captivating nose of resin, coriander, dead leaves, wild strawberry and candied blackberry. Magnified by sappy tannins perfectly set in the flesh and barely perceptible oak, the palate is noble, caressing and fresh, where the aromas revealed on olfaction blossom, enhanced by an irresistible mineral touch of flint. Madly charming. (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

"A refined and elegant Châteauneuf du Pape!

"A long 5-week maceration and 24 months of luxurious barrel ageing, 20% of which was new, have shaped the character of this highly expressive wine. The nose reveals scents of wild berries and fresh walnuts, with a touch of leather and star anise. This complexity is fully revealed on the palate, which is full-bodied and fat, with powerful tannins and a fresh, licorice-like mouthfeel. We applaud the flawless harmony of this promising Châteauneuf, which has perfectly tamed the heat of 2019." (Le Guide Hachette 2023)

"A perfectly chiseled jewel

"This prodigious white is made from Roussanne, Grenache blanc and a touch of Clairette (20%), fermented in wood and then aged in demi-muids for 9 months. Initially floral, the nose becomes sweeter with aeration, with scents of dried apricot, verbena and honey, enhanced by notes of butter and vanilla. Lively on the attack, the palate adds a great deal of tension and minerality to this complex palette, with an unctuous texture supported by a balanced woodiness that preserves fruit and freshness. A perfectly chiseled gem". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

94/100 Robert Parker

" The Châteauneuf du Pape Réserve 2015 is a very fine success. Yes, there's wood present, but it's balanced in proportion to the power and intensity of the fruit, ripe cherry. This full-bodied wine is sumptuous and velvety from start to finish, with incorporated baking spice notes and a long cherry-vanilla finish. It's approachable now, but I'd give it a few years to allow the wood to integrate better." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker) Wine to keep!
