Nages Castle
Nages Castle is part of Vignobles Michel Gassier, in a family of winemakers handed down from father to son for four generations. Nages Castle has been passed down from generation to generation, along with an undying love for vines, wine and the Mediterranean soil that supports them. The vineyard is part of the Costières de Nîmes, the most southerly of the Rhône Valley, with its Rhone grape varieties, its soil (made up of pebbles deposited by the Rhône and Durance rivers) and the dry Mistral wind. It extends on gentle slopes to the south-east of Nîmes and as far as the Petite Camargue.

The vineyards of Nages Castle The vineyards are now in the process of converting to organic farming. The terroir is composed of pebbles that store up the sun's heat, as in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and benefit from a convection effect generated by thermal sea breezes from the Mediterranean. The tempering effect of these sea breezes reinforces the thermal amplitudes between day and night, preserving the freshness and purity of the wines' fruit.

Rating: Robert Parker 90/100
"The 2011 Costières de Nîmes Vieilles Vignes has a dense purple color with a sweet nose of white flowers, scorched earth, blueberry, blackberry and incense. Medium to full-bodied, and supple with purity, texture and impressive length, it should drink well over the next 4-5 years." (Wine Advocate Oct. 2012 - Robert Parker)
