Château de Nages
Château de Nages is part of the Michel Gassier vineyards, owned by a family of winegrowers for four generations. Château de Nages has been passed down from generation to generation, along with an unbridled love for vines, wine, and the Mediterranean land that nurtures them. The vineyard is part of the Costières de Nîmes, the southernmost region of the Rhône Valley, with its Rhône grape varieties, its soil (made up of pebbles deposited by the Rhône and Durance rivers) and the dry Mistral wind. It stretches across gentle slopes to the southeast of Nîmes and as far as the Petite Camargue.
The Château de Nages vines are cultivated using sustainable methods, and the vineyard is now in the process of converting to organic farming. The terroir is composed of pebbles that store the sun's heat, as in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and benefits from a convection effect generated by the Mediterranean's thermal sea breezes. The tempering effect of these sea breezes increases the temperature variation between day and night, which preserves the freshness and purity of the fruit in the wines.
