Domaine Mouton
In 1989, Jean-Claude Sheep moves in with his father on the family estate in Condrieu. Father and son have at their disposal a work tool that is both remarkable and demanding: steep, rugged slopes from which Syrah and Viognier draw their strength.

Domaine Mouton produces wines under the Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and IGP Collines Rhodaniennes appellations. In Condrieu, Domaine Mouton owns parcels in the Côte Bonnette and Côte Chatillon districts, located in the village of Condrieu. The Côte-Rôtie parcels are located on the Côte Blonde, on the hillsides of Bassenon and Tupin-Semons.

Domaine Mouton cultivates these two large terroirs on terraces known as "chaillés", making mechanized farming impossible due to the steepness of the slopes.

cuvée phare

"An emblematic cuvée of the estate.

"In the south of the appellation, at a place called Maison Rouge, Jean-Claude Mouton farms a small 0.8-hectare parcel of 30-year-old Syrah. In good years like 2020, part of the grapes (20%) are not destemmed. Luscious aromas of jammy black fruit, praline and clove leave their mark on the nose. This ripe profile is echoed on the generous palate, with its pleasant sweetness and high-quality spicy oak. The tannins, silky but still a little firm, should mellow with a few years in the cellar".
