"An emblematic cuvée of the estate.
"In the south of the appellation, at a place called Maison Rouge, Jean-Claude Mouton farms a small 0.8-hectare parcel of 30-year-old Syrah. In good years like 2020, part of the grapes (20%) are not destemmed. Luscious aromas of jammy black fruit, praline and clove leave their mark on the nose. This ripe profile is echoed on the generous palate, with its pleasant sweetness and high-quality spicy oak. The tannins, silky but still a little firm, should mellow with a few years in the cellar". About the wine:
To the south of the appellation, in the Maison Rouge area, Jean-Claude Mouton farms a small 0.8-hectare parcel of 30-year-old Syrah grapes. In good years like 2020, part of the grapes (20%) are not destemmed. Luscious aromas of jammy black fruit, praline and clove leave their mark on the nose. This ripe profile is echoed on the generous palate, with its pleasant sweetness and high-quality spicy oak. The tannins, silky but still a little firm, should mellow with a few years in the cellar.
About the domain :
Jean-Claude Mouton comes from an old family of winegrowers, and joined his father André on the family estate in 1989. Today, he runs this small 9-hectare estate, whose south-facing terraces are at the heart of the village of Condrieu.
