"A gourmet pleasure
Vinified in whole bunches, as at Rayas, old Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah vines develop remarkable complexity. The bouquet evolves towards notes of red fruit, blackcurrant and spices. The attack is round and enveloping, supported by fine, structured tannins. The persistence is pleasantly long, offering gourmet pleasure. Enjoy now, or wait for the more patient...

About the domain :
Located in the northern part of the Châteauneuf appellation, in the village of Courthezon, this estate, rich in old vines, has belonged to the Charrier family for three generations. The Cristia, Pointu and La Guigasse plots produce the red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 99% Grenache, harvested whole and aged in concrete vats. Caroline is in charge of vinification, while her brother Frédéric looks after the vines. From IGP Vaucluse to Châteauneuf, the style of the wines is convincing.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 08/05/2023
A masculine, tannic and fruity CDR. Power and virility are evident from the outset, while the predominance of Grenache Noir marks the mid-palate with a loose, warm and highly perfumed imprint of fruit (blackberry, blackcurrant, plum) and hints of pepper, clove and nutmeg. The whole-cluster vinification adds a touch of acidity and freshness, which is just the thing to attenuate the hint of heat perceptible in the liquorice allonge. The tannic, concentrated structure of this good wine for friends will need to mellow over time. For the time being, it also needed to be aired out before scoring a win with friends, with bbq-braised Aveyron pork chops with paprika, and their vegetable ratatouille spiced up with a pinch of Espelette pepper. Score = 3.8.
