Robert Parker
"Côtes du Rhône Variations 2016 is a blend of Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre-Carignan from two parcels outside Lirac, over 50 years old. Hints of pepper spice the nose, while the palate delivers notes of red plum and apricot. Medium-bodied, supple in texture and dangerously drinkable. This superb value should be enjoyed for a few more years." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
At this historic Tavel estate, the Maby family produces wines of uniform quality, always honest, pleasant and fleshy. Managed by the dynamic Richard Maby, the domaine continues to progress, with the wines gaining in precision every year. The vineyards are located in the communes of Tavel, the Lirac plateau and in the neighboring Côtes du Rhône. Reasonable prices and consistent quality make this estate a sure bet on today's market, in all three colors.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
Four grape varieties are combined in this full-bodied, warm cuvée with accents of blueberry, blackberry and spice. These warm, candied aromas are echoed on the supple palate, with silky tannins and a delicately floral (violet) finish. A charming, convivial wine to open now.
About the domain :
This estate, which is highly consistent in terms of quality, notably for its lirac, in all 3 colors, and tavel, was founded in 1950 by Armand Maby. In 2005, his grandson Richard took over the reins of the 53-hectare vineyard, mostly located on the rolled pebbles of the Vallongue plateau; the vines are cultivated "au naturel", and will be converted to organic farming in 2019. Since 2011, Philippe Cambie, an eminent Rhône nologist, has been advising the estate.

Attractive dark ruby color, moderately expressive nose of red fruit (raspberry) with empyreumatic notes. Supple attack, ample mouthfeel, silky tannins, licorice aromas. Average length. Well-balanced, pleasant wine.
